Alum Directs North Park University Production

Joseph Schupbach, M.F.A dramatic arts 2019, will direct “She Kills Monsters” for North Park University Theatre in Chicago. The production runs Nov. 14-23.

Written by Qui Nguyen, the play is a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games. Set in 1995, play follows Agnes, a high school senior in Ohio, following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty demons, and 90s pop culture, the acclaimed young playwright offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Schupbach is an English and Performing Arts educator at ChicagoQuest High School where he is building an entirely new theatre and speech program. The school is located in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood and serves students from Chicago’s South and Westside.
