CDM Staff Member Co-sponsors Local Exhibition

Don Yee, who provides technical and curricular support for the Department of Cinema and Digital Media, and his wife Frances Leung are among the co-sponsors of “Jan Schnurr: Color Forms/Patterns Play” now at the Pence Gallery in Davis.

The exhibition runs through April 5, hours are Tuesday through Sunday 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. The gallery is located at 212 D Street in Davis.

“My wife Frances and I both love art and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to support local artists,” said Yee. “We have sponsored exhibitions at the Pence Gallery with our friends and family: Bonnie and Kit Lam, Ron and Rosie Soohoo, Terence Leung. Our local Davis and surrounding communities are full of creative individuals, with many of our friends who are fantastic artists in their own right. We are also active in our local Davis Chinese Association which sponsors scholarships and supports social and cultural events for our Chinese community.”

Jan Schnurr is a mid-career artist in Napa Valley who explores both natural and man-made forms while experimenting with a variety of media. She earned a BA and MFA from California State University in Sacramento, CA, and received teaching certification from the University of California in Berkeley, CA, and Chapman University in Fairfield, CA. With teaching experience spanning over two decades, Jan has taught fine art to elementary as well as high school students both in the private and public sector. She strives to instill an appreciation of art in her students, while helping them find their own creative voices. Jan’s artwork has been exhibited at the Napa Valley Museum, Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and Haggin Museum in Stockton, CA, and is included in the collections of Kaiser Permanente and California State University in Sacramento, CA. Exhibiting in juried gallery and museum exhibitions, her artwork has won recognition through numerous awards.
