MFA Thesis Choreographies (2012)

MFA Thesis Choreographies (2012)

Two new back-to-back choreographies by graduating Master of Fine Arts candidates Folawole and Kevin O’Connor. O’Connor’s dis/connect fuses live vocal, music, dance and aerial rope circus arts in an examination of what community means in contemporary society. Folawole’s new four-part work Light Phases will look deeply into joy, listening, light and trust.

(Light Phases choreography is subject to change.)

Please be advised that dis/connect contains partial nudity.

Connected to dis/connect, Kevin taught two family-friendly circus arts workshops on February 5 at Mondavi Center that were free and open to the public.  Read more .

Kevin O’Connor is a choreographer, dancer, circus artist and performance artist who has performed around the world and received numerous commissions to create and develop his circus and dance pieces.

Folawole will work with light installation artist Chris Fraser, DJ Quest, ballet dancers Maria Chapman and Jillian Davis, and theatre and performance artists Afi Ayanna, Miriam Wolodarski and Iu-Hui Chua. The entire piece will be linked together by the work of collaborating fashion designers Gabriel Russo and Ashley McKay.
