Seasonal Event

ShadowLight

ShadowLight, opening in February 2008, is an exciting evening of new choreography by graduating MFA Candidates Marija Krtolica and Randee Paufve.

Randee Paufve is a choreographer, dancer and movement educator with extensive teaching and performing credits on both coasts. She is the artistic director of Paufve Dance, an Oakland-based contemporary performance ensemble. Randee has been awarded multiple choreography residencies at the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, the Red Cinder Center in Hawaii, and the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, and has been a commissioned guest artist and teacher at numerous institutions across the country. Much of her work is constructed and performed in alternative locales, illuminating the effects of geography on relationships, sexuality, experiences of alienation and belonging. Her piece BeFore was performed in Main Stage Dance/Theatre Festival 2007.

Marija Krtolica, originally from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, began her dance training with Vera Obradovic. In 1994 she moved to New York City, where she earned a BFA in Modern Dance from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She has created two evening-length solo pieces and numerous works for groups. Her choreography has been performed at theaters and festivals in both Belgrade and New York. She was sponsored five times by the Open Society Fund (SOROS) of Yugoslavia and twice by UNESCO of Yugoslavia to create and perform new works and teach dance and improvisation workshops in Belgrade. New York venues include The New York Fringe Festival, The Educational Alliance, Construction Company, Judson Church, Dixon Place, Evolving Arts Inc. and Present Company Theater (Jump Arts). Her solo piece, Mirror and the Question Mark, was performed in the Main Stage Dance/Theatre Festival 2007.
