Professor Laurie San Martin Guest Faculty at New Music Program in Italy

Professor Laurie San Martin (B.A., music, ‘91) was guest faculty at the 14th Cortona Sessions for New Music in Italy. In addition, three compositions by San Martin were performed in concert during her residency June 12-25.

One of the world’s premiere educational programs dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary music, the Cortona Sessions is a destination for emerging composers and performers seeking to collaborate, learn, grow, and create. The Sessions provide participants with an inspiring and supportive environment in which new music is explored in all its shapes, sizes, and colors.

The Sessions concert series saw performances of San Martin’s Octurnal for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion; Miniatures for four saxophones and Conveyer Belt Dreaming for flute and piano.
