Professor Michael Yonan has authored an essay in the newly published book Interiors in the Age of Enlightenment: A Cultural History edited by Stacey Sloboda (London: Bloomsbury Visual Arts, 2024).

His essay “Gender and Sexuality: The Desire of Décor”  traces the sexualization of interior space in eighteenth-century society, investigating the arrangement of royal interiors at Versailles and Schönbrunn, classical myths in rococo decoration, Jean-François Bastide’s erotic architectural novella La Petite Maison, and the homosocial interiors of Strawberry Hill, London.
