SUMMER SESSIONS INSTRUCTORS IN THE ART STUDIO PROGRAM – 2024
The Department of Art and Art History at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for multiple instructor positions in the Art Studio Program during SUMMER SESSIONS 2024.
Classes available include Beginning Drawing (ART 002), Beginning Painting (ART 007), Beginning Photography (ART 009), and Intermediate Drawing (ART 103AN) during Summer Sessions 1. An instructor teaches a five-hour studio class twice a week and holds regular office hours for his or her students.
SUMMER SESSION 1 – June 24, 2024 through August 2, 2024
The Beginning classes introduce students to basic techniques of drawing, painting, and photography (respectively) along with the historical and conceptual background necessary for contemporary practice. The Intermediate Drawing class builds on these preliminary skills as students further their practice through building compositions using charcoal and ink. These courses should integrate practical skills with conceptual foundations in a way that takes advantage of the instructor’s strengths, interests and background. Applicants should be artists with professional practices and expertise in the respective fields. Qualifications include an MFA in the area of contemporary art practice.

For full consideration, applications should be received by the initial review deadline. Candidates should be prepared for in-person teaching. Courses will run subject to enrollments. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
