The UC Davis Design Museum examines the vibrant fusion of
traditional innovative designs in the Jiangnan style in a special
installation. “Tradition Meets Modernization: The Wisdom of
Livelihood and Design in Jiangnan Style” will be on exhibition
April 30 through May 3 only.
The Jiangnan style was developed in Southern Yangtze Delta area
over many centuries. As the important birthplace of Chinese
civilization, the Jiangnan style carries the values of profound
traditional culture as well as reflecting innovation in
modern-day designs.

The California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) at UC Davis and
the Smart City Research Center at the Korea Advanced Institute of
Science and Technology (KAIST) recently established a formal
research partnership. Harnessing the combined expertise and
resources of the CLTC and KAIST Smart City Research Center,
this partnership will accelerate efforts towards energy
efficiency and decarbonization in cities. To inaugurate this
partnership the CLTC hosted distinguished visiting professors
from KAIST on January 23, 2024, for
a research seminar covering several topics related to the
understanding and development of ’smart cities.’
