“Revival,” FADS Fashion Show, Picnic Day 2024

The UC Davis Fashion and Design Society (FADS) will present “Revival,” the 2024 Picnic Day Fashion Show, on April 20. The event will spotlight fashion created and executed by Department of Design undergraduate students in the Signature Collections course.
The event will be presented live and outdoors on the Cruess Hall Makerspace Courtyard at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The theme, ”Revival,” explores an improvement, an instance of becoming relevant again, a reawakening, or a restoration of physical and mental vigor to life or sporting success.
Inspired by the design students gravitating towards nature themes/the intersection between fashion and sustainability encompassing warmth and a nurturing feeling, revival is a new era of growth. It acknowledges our rise from the pandemic and hardships faced in the past and represents the turning of a new leaf. The experiences you’ve had guided you to where you are in the present and serve as a reminder that you can reinvent yourself whenever and however you’d like.
“Once again very excited to host Department of Design’s popular event, the Picnic Day Fashion Show, at our Maker Space Courtyard,” said Gozde Goncu Berk, associate professor and instructor of the Signature Collections course. ”This year we will feature 22 student-created collections in the show making it one of the largest shows ever.”
Special $12 tickets will go on sale April 1-13 at the UC Davis Ticket Office, located on the north side of Aggie Stadium, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, by phone (530) 752-2471 during the same hours, or online at design.ucdavis.edu. After April 13, tickets are $15. At each show, there is free standing room in designated sections.
In addition to the fashion show, the UC Davis Design Museum in Cruess Hall will be open noon to 4 p.m. on Picnic Day for “STILL: Racism in America, A Retrospective in Cartoons.”
The Department of Design is housed in the UC Davis College of Letters and Science, and is the only comprehensive design program within the University of California system.
